Mr. Hugo is a character and antagonist in Yuppie Psycho.

Summary[ | ]

Mr. Hugo is an employee of Sintracorp. Once Brian arrives to the fifth floor, Hugo greets him and gives him a tour around their newly shared office space. He explains that they mostly can goof off, since most of the real work is done by the people on the fourth floor, The Hive. He overall comes across as friendly until Brian finds his first sheet of witch paper, becoming ominous over it, before returning back to himself and going back to work.

Throughout the game, Hugo will attempt to stop Brian from being able to complete his objective, using an alter ego, 'Super Toad', to go about it.

After his promotion to CEO, Mr. Hugo reveals that he was born a Class-R, saying he was assigned a number instead of given a name and implying all Class-Rs have never met their parents. Mr. Hugo uses his hard upbringing to justify his actions throughout his time at the company, such as leading people to their deaths at the hands of the Witch so he could become CEO and hindering Brian during the course of the game.

Personality[ | ]

Mr. Hugo starts as an overall friendly coworker and jokester. But very quickly it is turned when he sees Brian get his first sheet of witch paper. While he doesn't become cold towards him, Hugo becomes vaguer and more ominous, shuffling Brian towards danger and after a little while, even actively putting him in it. It's possible that Hugo is also power hungry, becoming jealous and slightly angry at Brian after he's rewarded employee of the month, as well as his joy and slyness after becoming the company's new CEO near the end of the game.

Relationships[ | ]

Brian Pasternack[ | ]

Hugo is an antagonist to Brian and a hindrance towards his goals to stop the Witch. Through the game, Hugo tries to come across as a friend and nice coworker to Brian but puts him in danger willingly, not seeming fazed by the idea of Brian being hurt. Their relationship turns very sour during Hugo's birthday party, where Brian, tipsy from spiked punch, reveals to him that he knows he's Super Frog and that he and everybody else doesn't like him, and how many people only deal with him since they're afraid of him.

Ms. Sosa[ | ]

Ms. Sosa and Hugo are coworkers, presumed to have worked together in the same office for a while. Mr. Sosa reveals to Brian privately that she is afraid of Hugo, shown that she doesn't say much of a word while he's in the room with her, and asks if Hugo is listening/put Brian up to it when he asks. They don't interact much in game, but Hugo mostly makes jokes about her, from her not refilling the coffee machine to her being goth.

The Witch[ | ]

Hugo and the Witch don't interact with each other in game, but Hugo say's how he reaches his place in the company is mostly thanks to the Witch, and how he's lead people to their demise over the years by leading them to her. While he doesn't kill people for the Witch and doesn't worship her, Hugo does put people in situations where they could easily get themselves killed. During the birthday party, Hugo does lead the Witch to them, using a tipsy Brian, by revealing out loud to everybody that he's a Witch Hunter, something Sintra had warned Brian to not reveal, and makes him use a plastic knife to show off how he's going to kill the Witch.
